Can i use the dss-25 to charge my phone aswell?

You can. There is a nice green LED in front of the cradle, to show you that you are charging the phone.

It will if you connect it to your PC.
Made that stupid mistake once only when trying to charge my phone.

actually yes, I was a bit too quick with my smart-ar*e reply
the green LED comes on when you connect the DSS-25 to the pc AND have a phone connected.
This green LED does not signify the phone is charging and it won't charge from the USB port of the pc. you must still plug the phones a/c adaptor into the bottom of the DSS-25 to charge the phone
