I have asked this question to no avail. People complain and whine about the s700 and Pxxx series not supporting the MS Duo Pro. What makes the Pro so wonderful to have when the s700 itself is not a pro quality video capture device? I just do not get it. Why would anyone need a MS Duo Pro in their phone when the standard MS is quite adequate. Also, the s700 is a phone, a phone, a phone. Not a .mp3 player, not a digital camera, not a video camera. Simply a phone that has the other features built in.

why? well it wouldn't take any space at all considering it's the same size, it's only a sw problem and yes we know a phone is a phone but do you really think people are going to just sms and call others if they buy a 600$ gadget? heck you can buy a mobile that doesn't have this features for 20$ if you want just a phone, different people, different desires... i would take great advantage of a ms duo pro just because i really don't take my mp3 player with me when i go out, while i have my phone constantly in my pocket, 128mb isn't enough for music, not in these days....
but se probably didn't include pro support because:
a- the phone is already slow sometimes and 1gb of data wouldn't help
b- marketing, if we don't want another "ericsson" which was a great company but was ruined by bad marketing we HAVE to take "sony" marketing as something necessary.
the r&d section just takes way too much money for them to release ideal phones like in my opinion ericsson did with t39, r520, t68, and many others....

It would be nice if the S700 could support higher capacity memory sticks and it would also be nice if the K700 had expandable memory, but they don't and I don't see either as being a huge problem for precisely the reasons sapporobaby stated above.

@Scots,
Exactly. I still did not get an answer about why a MS Duo Pro is storage bliss as opposed to a normal MS Duo. They are different technologies but are not needed, in my opinion, in a phone. For music and storage (photos), I have an iPod photo. The iPod does not try to be a phone or a video player, or make coffee, or babysit. It just plays music very well, and allows me the opportunity to take some photos along and view them. It is basic and this is why Apple can not keep them in stock. They stick to the core biz and do not let those "why doesn't it have this or that" crowd distract them from their focus. Still to this day, no one has given a good reason other than the larger storage capacity, why a MS Duo Pro is crucial to happiness. Not matter what SE does people will complain that it is not cheap enough, big enough, etc.. Life is too short than to complain that their phone only has 128 megs of memory.
Lesson time: Not enough memory is mainly an annoyance. Your child having cancer. Now this is a problem. Focus people on things that matter.

sapporo baby,
this is the worst argument i have ever heard in my life.
there is nothing wrong with wanting to have a 1 giga storage card on your phone. some people just like to have it all in one device. why carry mutiple devices with you when you can have one that does it all?
im sure the major companies have the technologies to incorporate them all in one device but they are doing it slowly because they want to stay profitable for as long as they can and they want ot see growth in the market share and revenues.
you destroyed your argument when you said that you are currently using an ipod that can take pictures also.
why couldnt you just buy the mp3 player and the camera separately?
im sure the 'quality' of your pictures are sub standards and im sure you get irked when you find out that you have to delete few in order to take new pictures unless your i pod has the ability to incorporate a 1 giga starage card!
and what is the thing with worrying about a baby having cancer?! what is this has to do with talking about phones and wanting ot have a bigger data storage facility.
it is like saying why worry about these things..why not worry about people getting killed in accidents..i agree, we all should worry about more important things in life than a mere telephone but im sure there are other sites that talk about health, life and care.
by the way, I tend ot be one of those people who likes to have all the technologies in one gadget and this is one of my major complains about SE phones!
cheers!
