Hi All,
Blown away got a 910i yesterday, but the PC suite software doesn't install properly. The USB connection icon appears in the task bar, and I get the MY910 icon on the desktop, but I don't get the 910 icon on the task bar. Somebody else I know got one the same time but have not had any problems at all. I did at some stage get an error saying the EPOCInst.exe cannot register itself (times out). I did see an archive on this site regarding P800 and I tried it but still no luck. I've been stuffing around uninstalling/reinstalling for about 6 hours and still can't get it going. I've got a laptop with Win2000 (WINNT) SP4. I really need some help with this cause I'm tearing my hair out !!!! Oh btw the EPOCInst.exe version is 1.0.0.41. I've just been using the standard PC suite install disk that came in the box.

How about using the latest pc suite from the website. Another issue may also be your sync stations drivers. So complete remove everything that you've installed thus far. Download and install the latest PC Suite available on SE's site. Then go to the P900 support page on SE's site and download the sync station drivers. Let us know how that went.

Don't know for sure what your problem is. Are you running any firewall etc. (e.g. ZoneAlarm)? When I had trouble getting the sync to work, it was due to ZoneAlarm not letting all elements of the syncstation software to run.
If not, have you tried the search on esato?

Check the drivers for the Sync-Station. One of my mates had a similar problem the other day, and when I had a look in the "Hardware manager" window, there was a "lemon" attached to the USB device which was the SStation. I installed the drivers and it's all good since then.
So check your hardware-mangler for "lemons" and see if you've got any on the USB devices.

Check on your phone that control panel> connections> cable is set to "pc connect" and not modem.
This is sometimes another reason you cannot get the phone to connect to the PC

Hi All,
OK checked the hardware manager again, and still no connection problems. The phone connection link says it is connected through the COM port OK. I have uninstalled and re-installed the software about 12 or more times (reboot between each). I did download the latest 3.1.1 software from the SE site, still no joy. I got the guy from SE support on the phone and we have tried a few things uninstalling the USB drivers, the USB device, uninstalling the COM ports. I get the phone icon on the desktop and the phone connection link icon OK and it says it is connected I just don't get the stupid phone icon on the task bar. I'm getting really fed up with this now. Any other suggestions. I also have sygate security firewall on my PC, (part of client software), it cannot be switched off it must be uninstalled, and to get it re-installed is a real pain so I would prefer to leave that as a bottom of the list idea. Any other clues ?????????
