Trying to pick up a P910 or S700 but all contracts in CPW and P4U etc seem to tie you in on a high tariff for at least 6 months......are the days of getting a cheap phone on a higher contract and then dropping to a lower price plan far gone???????

Got my P900 free last Christmas on a £45 contract and dropped to a lower tariff in month one! So did loads of others on this forum!! Can you still do this from 02 direct?

Yes those days are gone - the service providers have finally cottoned on to what people were doing and stipulated a 6 month period, during which you can't migrate to a lower tariff. This is now standard for all networks, through the majority of their service providers.

Similar on vodafone now. I just got the 3G welcome pack in the post and it says 4 months minimum before you can change your tariff.

Becareful tho as some of those contracts eg Special promotions state they you have to stay with them for 16/18 months, not the standard 12.

watch out
