Is flashing your phone using SonyEricsson's online update the same as having your phone flashed at the service center?

I mean, now that the K700, P900, and P910 are part of the online update... does this mean that this is exactly the same as the firmware flashing that needed to be done at the Service Centers before?

Yes it's the same. The only issue here is the online update's reliability (read so many threads bout missing frames and other problems after doing the update!)

Well, I am not too sure with P910i, cos locally some of our local guys facing issues with online updates went down to SE Service Centre and came out with their CDA number changed. Eg, CDA162005/6 beocmes /2 or /4 after visiting SESC.

Cheers

i updated my P900 via the online update and had to do it twice. the first update made my P900 go bonkers and wouldn't accept incoming calls. the second one did it. now its working perfectly! =)

the SE service centres probably use EMMAII to flash, The CDA can change due to maybe an upgraded version of the same file etc.

That's actually what I was wondering... When I got my phone, CDA was already 162005/6... hasn't changed with the 2 updates that I've done already... but I was curious if anyone else has a newer CDA version than this?

I'm guessing that due to production schedules, some people got earlier version... but is everyone now at CDA 2005/6?

Cuz if Service Center flashing still does more than the online update... that means I'll still have to take my phone in every now and then.
