On my k500i, videos don't get muted even when I have turned the mute on, or changed the profile to meeting. Of course you can allways turn the volume down once the video is running, but I need it to start silently when I'm bored at work..

thanks

No man, I have a K700, and already tried what u said, and nope canīt do.
But u can use a handsfree that maybe came with your cell phone, or buy one, and donīt exactly use it u know, just to see the video, or who knows.
I guess thatīs the only way.

Sad but true you cannot mute the sound of a vid or a audio file.

Media player can memorize the last volume setting you used. So I suggest you use Media Player > More > Play Video

If you set the volume of the media player to 0 the last time you used it, the succeeding playback volume (video or audio) will be initially set to 0 also.

@lockitt

is your phone on silent? if not, then this should not be happening. if you would like to explain the steps you take to viewing your (is it video that wont make a sound through the main speaker?) whatever, and the phone you are using, then we can try and sort this out!

and Welcome to Esato !

Something called firmware is a small function that is developed by a manufacturer, even if the phone has been released, and then your phone can be updated to the latest one. It is useful, for if there are certain bugs, they can be deleted.

Now, in the original k5/k700 firmware you could mute the sound of the camera and video camera capture buttons, but due to copyright, and taking peoples pictures and videos without their knowledge sony ericsson, in their latest firmwares, have disable the function of muting the camera and video camera shutter sounds. It is annoying for some, but quite logical. They are not that loud anyway- se may possibly remove this if enough people complain in future firmware, but for now you are stuck with it and it is not worth all the blasted effort trying to get around it. after all, its just a little sound!
