> Different IMEI syntax in P910?
Bookmark topic
My friend just purchased a new P910i, and to his great disappointment discovered that the IMEI syntax has apparently been changed by Sony Ericsson.
For example, my IMEI is something like this:
353965-00-921678-8
Whilst his is:
35223500-148611-1-02
Is this done to prevent people from usin key generators floating around the web? An anti-piracy method?
Surely, the IMEI differs, but why are they nowadays in a different format? Can developers generate keys effortlessly in this format? Any problems?
As a future P910i buyer, I'm a little puzzled about this issue.

yes, what you have said is correct and for those of us who got the "
FREE eZiTap predictive text software (until 15 October)" (for example) we all with P910 had to email ezitap support for registration codes that worked whereas p800 and p900 owners were fine

@LUNDMARK, It is on the right way. All the manufatures are following the new standard. The original format was xxxxxx(TAC)-yy(FAC)-zzzzzz(SN)-*(check) before year 2003. The FAC number isn't used anymore now. P900 was released with imei of the transform format -00. P910 has the new format.

So what happens with all registered apps? Several of them has a special format in which they want their keys. I take it they have to be updated in order to work?
