OK, some opinions after a one day usage.

I've had S60 phones (3650, 6600, 7610) and one UIQ (p900) earlier. So I'm pretty familiar with these smartphones. That said I was a little bit disappointed with 6630 first. It is every way better compared to earlier Nokias but not by a huge marginal in any area. But now the improvements are so widely spread that this simply is a almost perfect phone and so I don't have any reasons to be dissapointed any more. But this is really a rational decision to not be dissapointed rather than really getting exited.

UI is really improved and it is also prettier. Usability is better as you can put 7 favorities in joypad and softbuttons in stand-by screen. UI is also faster, its not lagging any way in normal usage (remember 7610 was lagging really often) but opening photos in gallery or photo viewer can take a little while. So menu speed is good now, not lagging in any important functions but it isn't superfast either.

There isn't automatic key lock, timed profiles or bluetooth settings in profiles, but these are IMO the only missing things in OS/UI. Symbian 8.0 hasn't brought any big improvements so far, but I havent tested new themes yet.

Keys are the best IMO so far, combined 7610's precise with 6600's softness and silence. They are really low though and you have to be carefull when typing SMS while walking. Also send and end buttons are too small and edit-key (pencil) is on the wrong side as you now need to paint the letters with left thumb. But this allows the Symbian-button to be large enough.

I've tested BT with CK-1W and iBook and both them works flawlessly. I thought there is support for multiple BT connections, but when I had car kit connected and tried to connect BT-GPS it said there is max BT-connections in use already. This needs more testing... Sending MP3's through iBook was pretty fast, 37-42 kB/s and reliable. I'm syncing my phone with XP, so i can't say anything about iSync (propably not working though).

USB with XP was also pretty fast (maybe around 200 kB/s to rs-mmc in phone), but the drivers may cause some problems, need to install PC-Suite to C:/! Syncing with Outlook through USB was easy to configure and 250 contacts and around 30 calendar entries took less than a 30 sek. I didn't try the phone transfer directly from 6600, but the software sent from 6630 installed neatly to 6600.

Data connections were already installed for my network (Sonera) so I didn't had any problems with them. GPRS seems to be as good as before although faster (EDGE) but UMTS is a bit clumsy sometimes. In my area (Turku, Finland) there is WCDMA network already but its coverage is really small. It uses 2100 MHz band so it needs more base stations to get similar coverage and as it is now there really is many holes now. Inside buildings its really rare to get 3G sign below signal bars. And when you get it the signal is much lower. So to use UMTS you need to be still in some place where you get the signal good enough. But when you get it the speed really is faster. We have a service with some news clips from Finland which needs UMTS to show properly and these shows nicely in landscape full screen mode. But still the texts are almost impossible to read. So better than GPRS clips but not much.

Screen is really clear and easy to read although the black borders around the pixels are visible. Automatic brightness is very well implemented and it shuts the keyboard lights down also when in bright place. And this really is needed as the keys are silver with white backlight.

Sound quality in calls is good and loud enough. I haven't used MP3's lot but they are ok (stereo if you aren't sure yet!) but the headphones are really bad. Ringtones are the best in Nokia S60 phones and almost as good as in P900.

Camera is really fast, and in bright the photos are almost good enough to be printed. Also the night mode is usable if you can hold the phone still. But you need to use it as soon as you go inside as the photos get really grainy in normal mode. I haven't taken any video clips yet so can't help with it. The photo applications take a little while to open but after that they really are usefull. Image manager is the best with ability to show photos full screen landscape mode and moving between photos is like changing users in Mac OS X with the cube effect. Photo editor is also usefull at least with MMS messages as you can crop photos and add texts to them. But there isn't many frames included, hopefully we can download them later.

I don't remember any more what I was going to write here but you can ask me. Overall I'm happy with this, quality is good, UI has improved and got prettier, phone is responsive and good to use. But maybe I have used these S60 phones so far that this isn't anything revolutionary. BUT STILL THE BEST PHONE I'VE HAD SO FAR!

BTW, I bought this for 562€ and firmware is
V 2.39.129

Two photos:

This is taken outside with ISO speed rating 250 and shutter speed 1/500 sec

This one is taken inside with night mode ISO 800 Shutter 1/5 sec

So with night mode you really need to hold the phone still to get proper picture

Sorry, I moved the photos, it in here now:

http://koti.mbnet.fi/anttisaa/Images/6630/

20112004(007_1) - (007_6) is 6 photos taken in sequency mode. Camera really is fast enough to take even this kind of photos.

20112004(002) and (003) are taken in the same place with wide open and full zoom. (003) really shows that this is only digital zoom but in phone screen it still is ok.

There is also 2 video clips. You can right-click and download them and watch them with QuickTime. Framerates seem to be much better now. Also digital zoom works in video clips.
