> How to identify water damage on t610
Bookmark topic
Hey anyone out there who know a little more about the t610 technological aspect than I do..
Lately, my T610 has started making bad scratching sounds both in the mic and in the speaker.. that is.. both me and the people I am talking to hears these sounds.. it sounds like I am in a storm.. when I press the phone in my hand, I sometimes might get better sounds, and sometimes they can't hear me at all yet I can hear them somewhat..
Anyways.. I took it to a repair shop to have them fix it. But I got it back the day after and they said it had water damage.. I am 100% sure that I havent had water on it.. so I want to open it myself to look for these water damages.. I have the equipment I need to open it..
My question is.. what do I look for to confirm water damage? Any other suggestions for what might be wrong?
Thank you tons!

Something on the battery should tell you (i think the power points or connectors change a brass kinda colour, not sure tho?)

The battery works perfectly.. it's only the speaker/microphone.. can you still see this from the battery?

If I was U, I will go to the repair shop and have them to open it, so you can see it.
Or you can look here :

With my old p900 I had a similar 'crashing' sound now and again.
Never found out what it was. Very odd

I already know how to open it.. I just did.. and now it actually seem to work.. without doing anything special.. removed some dust.. hopefully it will last.. but the people at the repair shop claimed it to be water damage.. I could not find any signs of water damage.. but I do not know what to look for..
I just opened my friends nokia 6600 which DOES have a water damage.. it was a big burn-mark inside of it.. cleaned it out with some vodka, and now his phone actually works as well.. he had problems with the phonebook button and the joystick..

Most SE phones have a little sticker in the case somewhere that is normally chequered red and white. When the sticker comes into contact with water it turns white. Sorry but dont know where it is situated on a T610. It was visible if you took the battery out of my P800 and is the same on my S700.
If you find a little red and white sticker then the phone is not water damaged, in theory.

I had the same thing happening to me with my k700i. It would not take any charging for the battery. I gave it to
Service Åström
Kungsbrostrand 15
http://www.service-astrom.se
They said it was waterdamage and not possible to repair. I could get a factory refurbished replacement unit for 2800:- sek. (Its cheaper to buy a new one..) I even called to argue with the service guy a little but it did not help. I had to pay 300 sek in service fee and i took the phone back.
At home I opened my k700 up and there was some corrosion on the contact plates inbetween the bottom contact and the "motherboard". I just cleaned the bottom contact by blowing hard into it and then the contact plates on the motherboard with my thumb. It took 1 minute. After that one month has passed and the phone is still working perfectly.
I think the service shop should have offered to fix it since it was so easy. They claim they cannot give any warranty when its waterdamage so they cannot fix it. Stupid I say. If my choice is a repair for 500 sek with no warranty or to throw away my phone i choose the repair...
I wont use Service Åström again.
