Frankly speaking, I am not satisfied with what SE has released this year, i.e the K700i and S700..
Both have converged to Nokia's style!!

What I love about SE 2 years ago was its SIMPLE and TIDY design like T610 or T630....
But the K700i is becoming more n more towards Nokia..Being roundish like Nokia 6600 until I have to say NO to it..
While the S700 is so bulky and the swivel design being so complicated and hard to use it..

I hope SE can maintain its old style...Do not influenced by Nokia..

Well, one thing for sure, S700 is not a copy of any Nokia. S700 is simply a tuned version of DoCoMo SO505iS so it can be used in GSM network.
Swivel design chosen to accomplished the unity of SE phone module with CCD camera module in the smallest size available. Otherwise the phone will look bigger.

And i don't think SE has followed Nokia's design philosophy. SE still produces high quality case (not a plasticily crap like Nokia).

One might think SE has followed Nokia when they see the separation of Power button from Yes button.... ah....

S700 is sonyericsson own style. Same on k700. Dual front approach is master by them. Now lg and siemens copy. Imho se now become the leader in style instead of technology This message was posted from a T610

I don't think the K700 or S700 has styles derived from Nokia. They have their own unique features IMO. Besides, being a SE doesn't solely lie on the phones physical design - it's also the technology and interface that makes it a SE.

These days SE phones are getting more cluttered when it comes to the design. I think this is more due to Japanese influence than anything to do with Nokia.

The older SE phones like the t610 had a very simplified design, almost iPod-ish, but I guess those days are over.

My main grouse is that instead of phones getting smaller, they're size remains about the same as before, but the manufacturers are just cramming more stuff in.

I think design is becoming more and more like Samsungs (which I hate).
I am tired of all these metal-like plastics (S700, K500, K700).
Where are the nice colors?
If this is a Japanese influence, then why do they sell it in Europe?
And actually some DoCoMo phones look much better and colorful.
These days plastics can be much nicer looking than fake metal. (look some Nokias i.e.)
