don't get me wrong on this one, I'm a BIG SE fan, but at the same time I try to be logical... This is my story:
I always had SE (or just ericsson a few years ago) to name a few recent ones t68, t610, z600. I always had a poor reception problem. During the first few years I thought it was just the operator or the combination of operator and region... (i live in England). After changing all operators (yes every single one of them) and changing city (I’ve been living in Newcastle, Birmingham, Sheffield for a few years each) I realised it was a phone problem and not an operator one.
Then I though it was phone specific so I sent it back and received a new one (t68) I did that a few times but the problem persisted...
Having nothing else left to do I accused my beloved t68 of having poor signal problem and just moved on to the next SE phone upgrade.
To my surprise my t610 had poor reception as well... having examined all the possible causes of this behaviour (as previously) I had to change phone again... z600, and again... t630, and again (i haven't decided yet what to get)
Just to get things clear, when I say poor reception I don't mean that I cannot make calls all the time etc, but in some poor reception areas I have no signal (same applies to my other SE Friends) but users of other phones have a proper signal. My girlfriend had a nokia, then a Samsung, and then back to a nokia, and when I have no signal in some areas she ALWAYS has 1-2 bars... and she is able to talk and send sms but I cannot...
Apparently I checked this problem to a few forums, and it seems that most people agree that SE phones are more sensitive to signal strength variations and in some cases of very poor reception SE fail to register a proper signal but other phones do have 1-2 bars strength...
So, here is my question... I have never tried one of SE really expensive phones like p910, and I was wondering do these phones have the same problem as well ? Does it worth paying that much money to get such of phone or should I just get 6260, 6230 or something similar ? I know I will miss SE, I will look away from my phone when I see the horrible 6230 menu colours, but at least I will have a proper signal...
I always had this problem in my mind, but today a friend of mine came to my office, where I have SOS-only with my current z600 (it's in a basement) and when I asked him, he showed me with pride his recently purchased 6230 having 2 bars...! I always have SOS-only in my office for the past 3 years with various SE phones...
This was the icing on the cake... it really pissed me off… gggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I would appreciate any logical advice...

due to hardware problems I had a few P800 (does this also match your idea of an expensive phone?) after my nokia 6310 - and always the same; I´m living in a signal 'poor' area, my nokia managed to keep on track anywhere I was in my flat, but thanks to SE I have to move to the windows everytime I make/receive a call..

yes, p800 is my idea of an expensive phone.
So, isn't this frustrating... ??? This means that all people living in poor reception areas, or having to go to poor reception areas are 'forced' not buy SE... that's a shame...
It's seems that I have to abandon my beloved SE... and maybe buy another brand for my first time...

Thought about it too - must admit. But no chance. There´s no other phone in this size with comparable capabilities.. Now I´m looking for an external antenna or a desk stand (I know it´s ridicolous - must be love).
But I´m very interested in the new Motorola mpx 300 - but that´s off thread.

Its an industry fact . D best signals can be found on nokias, sagems, alcatels (french phones in general are top signal performers)

so, I got the point from most of you... I unfortunately need to switch to another brand
I don't think there are many phones around to match SE features... but I think I'll try 6260, what do you think ?
