Hi Guys,
Had my K700i since August and it's took a few small hits since then but one day the whole phone froze when it's light faded as it was about to switch into clock mode, couldn't unfreeze it so simply had to take battery out and reinsert it. It's worth noting the phone had never been turned off for about two weeks and hadn't been dropped for the same period, however this crash seemed to furbar it.
After reinserting the battery the power button did absloutley nothing, I plugged phone into desktop charger, the same one that comes with the P900 for syncing with, and the light on the charger lit, to say a battery was present and charging rather than a flash as it gives when the phones plugged into it without a battery.
Thinking it was a weird battery, I plugged a spare in I had and still had exactly the same problems. Charged it, tried everything under the sun, still no output, thought it was very strange that the phone hadn't been dropped for a couple of weeks and damage was only showing now after that crash.
Anyway thinking it was totally f**ked after trying for a few days to get it to work without much luck I slammed it on the floor in frustration lightly and the outer casing of the phone broke off, such as the front fasica, as did the camera fascia, battery cover and the battery fell out. Amazingly I pressed the power button, and it came on after just putting the battery back in without any covering but the joystick was a little stiff.
I then put the phone back together bit by bit, I put the front cover on, still seemed worked well, put the back battery cover on, still seemed to work well, put Camera cover on, made it crash, pressure seemed to be causing it problems. Anyway with everything back on I turned the phone on and it worked. However I was missing the volume, online and camera keys from the left and right hand side of the phone.
Anyway, suffice to say since the phone turns on now and works with a dodgy joystick that only just works and lack of volume and camera and online buttons. However every few hours it seems to freeze which seems to happen signifcentley more often when the battey is lower. Also noticed the screen surface gets warm even if your only in a 5 minute call and the phones been off for a few hours, was never like this before. And any pressure on the top of the phone makes it freeze too.
Was wondering if anyone knew how I could get this sorted out and a rough idea of what it will cost, doesn't seem to be too much wrong apart from a dead joystick and lack of buttons (I can live with that) apart from the crashes every few hours, that I can't live with, any advice muchly appreciated, or shall I take O2 Insurance out this week on the phone and a couple later claim the phone is 'lost'. lol.

I don't believe I have every seen a statement as oxymoronic as that one!
Seriously though, it would appear that you have three options available to you. You can either pay to have your K700 repaired, but with the level of damage present I would imagine that you might have to pay a not insubstantial sum of money. There is also the option of buying a new K700 and of course you could always just try and use it as it is.
I would imagine that O2 would want to see a mobile they are going to insure if the insurance hasn't been bought at the same time as the mobile.

Brand new and OEM housing for SonyEricsson with blue lens. It comes with faceplate, backplate, antenna cover, battery cover and blue lens.
I have already bought a replacement housing for my girlfriends K700i

too bad ,it wasn't available yet in Spore (if i not wrong)

Go to the store and tell 'em it's stopped working properly and ask what it'll cost to have it fixed and whether or not that falls under factory warrenty (1 year).
That is, if the cover falling off hasn't voided the warrenty. I'm not familiar with changing covers on the k700 so if anyone here knows about that pls. enlighten us.
If it does void it, you're screwed and you probably should have waited with your "gentle expression of frustration". lol
Never too old to learn though.
