Has anyone else experienced this I just got a battery from ebay and the battery level indicator sticks what I mean by that is it always stays at the same level until you put it on the docking station, like when I switch the phone on it will be at 0 % and if I put it on the docking station it will go to say 90 % and will stay their until I put it back on the DS do you think this could be a fake battery. The sticker says it’s a BST-15 and 1260mAh the serial No. is S/N 011941 02w46

It only cost me £ 4.99 including shipping but it came from Hong Kong so its not really worth it, I will get one from a proper shop. Thanks for the reply

They are fakes. For starters I don't think the BST-15 was 1260mAh back in 2002. I have one too and they look genuine(ish). I'm looking for a new genuine one at a reasonable price. Unfortunately ebay is full of fake ones from Hong Kong.

Well for what they cost I would agree but I would rather have a full capacity real one. I just need to find one for a reasonable price.

For a start be wary of buying anything like accessories or software from the Far East especially from Hong Kong, Malaysia and Thailand.
They are notorious for their genius with and love of counterfeit goods (now before the Politcally Correct Brigade get on my case, may I qualify that by saying that ALL regions of the world have their specialisms in various crimes).
Secondly, you should not be a cheapo; buy ORIGINAL brand batteries if you can. I won't go into why here - if you do a search you will see other threads I have contributed to here and on My- Symbian regarding batteries.
Third, here in the UK the cost of an ORIGINAL Sony Ericsson BST-15 1260 mAh battery is cheap now. I got mine about a weak ago from T-Mobile specialist Fonehouse for £20.
Finally, I have come to suspect that Sony Ericsson have done with the P910 what Sony have now done with their cameras (and what Motorola have been doing for years). That is, they may be now making their phones so that if you put a third party/counterfeit battery in it the phone will not charge the battery correctly or may behave erratically. I recently had three third party batteries used in my P910i from three different manufactureres and ALL of them behaved strangely. And unusually for me I was being a cheapo - in the past I have always stuck to branded products; so I quickly learnt to stick to my own rules!!! I therefore sent all batteries back, got my refund and purchased a proper battery. No problems since.
If something is cheap then that is all well and good. If it is ridiculously cheap then you have to ask yourself why. A BST-15 battery that purports to be an original and only costs £4.99 is WAY WAY WAY too cheap and ought to cause alarm bells to ring. For this battery, £15/17 would be acceptably cheap in my opinion - when it gets under £10 (even allowing for the strength of the pound against other currencies) then I smell a rat.
I hope my comments have been helpful.

BST-15 in a 1,260 amp configuration is indeed a legitimate offering from SE.
There are BST-15 with less amperage, but the 1,260 variety is in fact an official offering from SE's own service centers in HKG, for example. It is where I purchased it, for my z1010.
In regard to purchasing batteries other than from original equipment manufactureres, the only thing to do is Never buy batteries from places other than official SE shops. Batteries are very important to how yr device funtions. Poor quality batteries from 3d party sources put yr device at risk, and, if recent reports on mobiles exploding, seem to put the user at risk as well.

I’ve learnt the hard way but its best to always buy the original SE battery, I even bought one from
Here that’s meant to be 1280mah but as it only lasts half as long as the original battery (1260mah) so it’s a lie and even when the phones off all night it looses 7%, that company should be closed down, so always buy an originale SE battery as you will in the end
