> DoCoMo ending 2G cell service in 2012
Bookmark topic
There’s nothing too crazy or unexpected about the news that Japanese wireless carrier NTT DoCoMo says that they’re going to stop offering 2G cellphone service by the year 2012, except that if it’s going to take the Japanese eight years to make the full transition to 3G, how long is it gonna take us poor suckers here in the rest of the world!

don't forget that NTT DoCoMo started with 3G back in 2000, so it takes them a total of 12 years to completelly replace 2G with 3G

Yeah but look at analogue television...people said wehrn digital was launched, they would never turn off the analogue network, people would not switch, and analogue is being turned off in 5 years! Progress, things change.
