I have recently purchased a P910i on Vodafone contract; everything seems fine with the phone except that when I installed Opera and IM+ from the SE CD I have been unable to connect using either of them. I have also tried AgileMessenger but also to no joy. The confusing thing about Opera is that the default 'Internet' browser appears to be fine, ?I can access BBC.CO.UK etc however in Opera I cannot connect to anything, with the IM clients I appear to get a time out error when connecting to MSN Messenger.
I have spent a day looking at this now, first a website suggested Vodafone’s 'content control' might be blocking access, which I have now removed to no joy, I have also been speaking to Vodafone and enquired about necessary ports (1863) being opened, which apparently they are. I struggle to understand how the default browser can work so well, yet Opera doesn't! But more importantly for me is that I can't seem to get an IM client to work with MSN Messenger. Has anyone had similar issues and if so did they resolve them... I will be eternally grateful to anyone who can help as this is driving me nuts!

which data account are you connecting with? the one with the account set to wap.vodafone.co.uk or the one set to internet?

The account I am using is VF Contract Internet... and as if by magic it has started working on AgileMessenger, and Opera.... however still no joy with IM+ still not to worry one of them is working and thats all I needed (and its the free one which is a bit of a bonus)
