Hi,

Is there a way to edit the file associations in the P910? E.g it would be good if the TXT files where NOT opened by the default browser, since if you get an email attachment as text then you cannot save it and the browser doesn't format it right.

hmmm. That's the problem. You can't save it. When you receive a TXT attachment it doesn't allow you to save it, only open it/send attachment/ delete the message etc. Since when you click on it it will automatically open the browser. So the easiest way would be to change the TXT association to something else, maybe as you mentioned to a third party software.

nope. The internal browser does not allow saving txt files. Once loaded it will try to display it then all you can do is exit.

Hmm, I don't have an email to test it with but there must be a way to save it. Does it have 'unfiled' & an arrow in the top right cos I think then u can choose another location & it will save it there.

Sorry if that's no use, I'm guessing a bit

That's the problem. It isn't unfiled. It is associated with the browser so the client doesn't offer to save it. That's why I want to change the association somehow.

Have a look on my-symbian.com for a .txt viewer & maybe if u install one it will automatically adjust the file association.

but there MUST be a program or a way to change the file associations shouldn't there? I mean its a good OS, but not being able to modify the associations just seems dumb.

Maybe we can use stellent viewer which is downloadable at the sonyericsson support page under the p900 applications, but i am not sure if this viewer will work with p910. Has anyone tried this yet or will it mess with i.e. quickoffice etc.?

The stellent viewer manages more than 200 file extensions....
