Welcome to Esato

It should work no problem.

Is your phone branded by any Network?

Works fine for me. How are you trying to send it? What ir port are you using? Explain in detail the error you are getting. This message was posted from a K500

Well I'm not really a wiz with the pc but was able to setup the driver for the IRDa. The prob is how do I send the MP3 tones to the Phone? The IRDa was already active /plugged in to the pc but don't know how to direct it to the IRDa of the Phone. Since you where able to successfully transfer mp3s to your phone could you help me up on how you where able to send it out...many thanks....any good truetones site you know...

First u must make sure the phones IR port is activated then sit the phone with IR port in line with the one on the PC adapter.
(Not sure about K5 but on K7 IR port is on the top next to the power button)
Then on PC choose a file, right click, send as, IR.

There are many sites to d/load from, u should search but for now u could start here:

There are different ways of transfering files from and to your IRDA enabled PC:

1) Use IRDA functions in Windows.
Activate your IRDA on your mobile, align your device in front of your IRDA on PC. To send media to your mobile, right-click (for example) an MP3 file and go to 'Send To...'. When the menu pops up, click on 'Send to nearby PC' (or something on those lines). Similarly, you can select a file on your phone, select 'Send' and choose 'via IRDA' to send to the PC.

2) Install the Sony Ericsson File Manager 2.5.9.0
Go to:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/s[....]3_3&zone=ps&lm=ps1_1&pid=10176

Download the Sony Ericsson File Manager (the first one at the top) and install the program. Once done, activate your IRDA on your K500i and align it to your PC. Your PC should show a Windows IRDA icon saying that there is a computer nearby connected using IR. But you should also evetually get a mobile icon with a YELLOW tick which flashes (this appears in the notification area of your taskbar, next to the time). A windows will pop up on your first time, telling you to add your phone to the connections list, following the instructions on screen. Once added, now wait until the flashing yellow tick changes to a permanent GREEN tick. Now your connected. Click on the new 'My Phones' icon on your desktop, select K500i and you can start drag/dropping files from and to your PC.

Wat kind of transfer speeds can i hope for with the irda connection? I hear big files cant be transferred usin irda, is that true and if yes wats the max size? Can games/applications be transferred? I currently use a data cable but i get very low transfer rates(like 1kbps), also the games/applications folder is not visible in phone manager so i cant transfer java content, is that normal? Btw for mp3 tones visit http://dezone.mcommunity.biz
