> Samsung Develops WLAN Module for Handsets

Samsung has developed ultra slim Wireless LAN module for handsets and will start mass production from March 2005.
The new W-LAN module is 9x12x1.4mm and 0.15cc volume, about 9% the size of those for PDA (20x23x3.5mm, 1.61cc). The company emphasized the energy consumption is only 43mW or 53% of existing modules. It is an 802.11b W-LAN module and the maximum speed is 11Mbps, while the real transmission rate is about 4.5Mbps

It's about time, that this 'invention' comes to place, never knew that Samsung will introduce it 1st out in the market, as SURELY as the others will follow suit !

That is SURE as the SUN rises in the EAST mate! Wi-Fi next BEST thing out in the market . . . . But I guess

unfortunately its all a bit too late for me. I have wifi in my laptop and ipaq and connect with many hotspots not to mention having wifi/adsl at home and next week also in my flat here in Frankfurt so wifi in a phone probably won't get much use by me on small screen devices such as mobile phones. It would be nice in the P series though
