Is this possible?
My P900 has started misbehaving and looks like it may need replacing under warranty so I'm considering a P910.
Thanks in advance.

You can't restore a P900 backup to the P910 as the file structure is different.
99% of the stuff you want to keep can be moved with a bit of pissing around. There's a large thread on the my-symbian UIQ forum that explains exactly what to do.
I suggest you look at that.

Actually, it could be possible! I recently sold my P800, regretted it, and then managed to get a good P900 secondhand. As I still had the sync software on my PC, when I connected my phone to the computer and sync'ed it, it transferred some of the stuff that was on my p800 to the p9! So you could well get away with it!

A synch and a backup are 2 seperate things.
You can synch to outlook and back, that will work.
I think he's talking about all settings, not just contacts.

you have all the files in the ecs file. So if you rename it zip you have access to the contents. There is a manifest file which details which file is which. So the worst case scenario would be to add the files manually one-by-one, but atleast you have the files.
