Hey,

I tried the Yamigo service for "My Friends" on my K700 and K500 - it logs on and stuff, and I appear online - but messages never arrive at my phones, even though I am on the "pending list" (according to their "online user stats"-site).

There was a news on yamigo.com this summer, saying that they disabled support for K700 (think it was due to stability problems), and I guess the same thing goes for K500 too.

So, is there another IMPS service that I can use to connect to MSN or ICQ, with "My Friends" ?

I tried Agile Messenger (www.agilemobile.com), but you have to send an SMS with "REG" to a +44 number, and still (2 days later) I haven't recieved anything (agile messenger also costs $3 a month).

i thonk everyone has given up on this, i dont know why sony ericsson dont set up thier own server on it and give people the settings. Other than that I dont think that it will catch on, everyone should email SE and ask them

It's because SE sucks at IMPS. I love my k700i, but SE made a mockery out of it. So many promices, but bad implementations.

I'd wish to be able to set the pooling time (just like at emails) ... that would be the greatest improvement! ... but no ... SE doesn't want satisfied customers

I wrote to yamigo about the time I made this topic, but havent heard from them yet - just wanted to know if they had an ETA on when K700/K500 would be able to use their service again. Their site doesnt seem too updated either, so I dont hope they have trashed the project.

Fixes and new features:

A long awaited fix for the double "@@" notation. From now on a buddy WV address needs to escape the first "@" by replacing it with the sequence "%2540" Eg: "wv:yamigosupport@hotmail.com@msn.com" needs to be entered in the phone as: "wv:yamigosupport%2540hotmail.com@msn.com". Most of the users wont be required to do any changes to their buddy lists as we changed the entries in the database. All Nokia users though will need to change the entries in theirs phones as Nokia phones currently DONT download the contact lists from the server. To our knowledge all SonyEricsson and Motorola obtain the contact lists and their content at login time. As a result of this fix K700i phones WILL login to MSN.

Support for Yahoo offline messages. Now you will be able to receive at login time all the outstanding messages from Yahoo.

Support for UTF-16 for AIM/ICQ

Yamigo Forum started

Improved UTF-8 sending for Yahoo! messaging (eg Chinese)

Upcoming in 0.11:

Automatic population of the contact lists from external sources. We are planning this new feature, yet most of the Nokia phones wont benefit from it currently as they dont download the list from the server. No ETA though.

ICQ presence update fix.

My "problem" with Yamigo is, that I dont recieve MSN messages from people I do not have on my Yamigo list, but I have on my normal MSN list. I would really prefer not to add like 50 people manually, just to be sure everyone of them can write me.

heyyguys, got to jabber.nu and download the full java messenger. u also need to register and stuff, but the service is free. works for yahoo and msn, and iv been using it for 2 months nowon my k700. contacts present and real time delivery of messages to and from mobile. great piece of java

@osmosis - thanks, but no thanks. thats not what I was looking for. I dont know any java or wap based MSN to lock up my phone while using it. Thats whats so fancy about "My Friends" and Yamigo - it works just like if you recieve an SMS.

I managed to connect to MSN with Yamigo on my K700i using the built-in My Friends option, however chat doesn't operate very well. Messages I send appear quickly to the other party, but messages others send me take a lot of time to get through to my phone. Anyway, it's a great step forward and I hope things will get even better with version 0.11. For the guys at Yamigo: Well done! Keep up the good work.
