> Help please choosing between K700i & K500
Bookmark topic
Afternoon folks. I'm a newbie on this forum, so here goes.
I was considering getting the K700i on Virgin (current network) when I read Jan's issue of What Mobile which really rates the K500. I don't know whether to save myself about £80 and get the K500 which has an almost like for like screen but no bluetooth etc., or spend the extra for on the K700i and poke up with the poor battery life.
I'd be really grateful if anyone could give me any recommendations on which to get.
Many thanks.

K700i dude, features wise, it's more superior than that of the

K5 . . . Though the PRICE is more expensive! Good Luck!

Sure-absolutely K700i-the best phone I've ever had. Who says the battery is bad? Mine works ok.

Ok, I actually swayed a friend of mine to get the K500i over the K700i... why? He never needed Bluetooth... and wanted a phone with better battery life.
The K500 has better battery life (gives at least 12 hours more than the K700 with the same use)
The K500 is slightly smaller and lighter
The K700 on the other hand has a better screen (higher res... hence the slightly shorter battery life)
The K700 has an FM radio
The K700 has more memory
The K700 has a flash... or flashlight...depending on how you use it!
The K700 has Bluetooth.
Now... honestly ask yourself if you've EVER used Bluetooth... needed a radio... take a lot of photos, and photos in the dark. If you never really have... and never had the urge to with your previous phone... then go with the K500i.
But if you use Bluetooth on an everyday basis... then no question about it... go with the K700i
The screen of the K500 is very good... good enough, that until SE released the actual numbers, rumors had it that the K500 had an identical screen to the K700. So it's not really an issue, unless you don't have a life, and spend your free time counting pixels.

Get the K500i if your not bothered about memory and bluetooth. The K500i has a better interface (animated 3D themes, which i dunt think K700i has, but i might be wrong). Even though the K700i has a flashlight, it's only one LED. So if you did want to buy the K500i, you can buy the MPF-10 flash attachment for 10GBP at Vodafone which is better with six LEDS so your not missing out on a flash feature. How that helped ure decision!

naturally the K700 has animated themes. Its the same platform - only difference is, K500 is a K700 with a different casing and some things removed.
These are:
Radio
Bluetooth
Memory
Photolight
Panoramamode
Different screen with smaller resolution
I agree that the K500 is a very good budgetversion of the K700 - and think its a bargain for many users that cannot afford a K700. But personally I would never do without bluetooth. I definately use bluetooth every single day. Bluetooth just makes everything so much easier - transfering pictures, games, themes, ringtones, movies, synchronizing etc. - not to mention bluetooth headset and the remote control option.
All of this you also want to do with a K500 - but cant (atleast in the same easy way), therefore the K500 would not be a phone for me. Removing bluetooth from the K500 was a mistake imho. and I disagree with anyone that says its not needed. If you dont need bluetooth for anything, then you dont need all the fancy functions of the K500 - and thus you could just as well get an even cheaper model without them. If you want to use all the fancy fun stuff - then you also want bluetooth.
My advice - if you can afford it then take the plunge - get it all, and get a K700 - its well worth the costdifference.
If you cant afford a K700 - then the K500 is a very good option.
PS: yes I am aware the K500 has irda that can do some of the things that bluetooth can - but its just not the same.

Whats your point ?
Rather pointless to just say you dont like the K700 without giving some reasons why - dont you think ? I cant see how that can help anyone make a descision on anything.

If you can afford the k7 then dont save money by gettin a k5, however if you cant afford it then the k5 is a very good phone for its price. As you probably know by now k7's extra features, you should also consider that with k7's screen res you can run s60 games and see 176*144 videos properly and hence the overall functionality is improved. It also has a slightly better camera and the awesome panaroma feature. The k5 also has its ups btw: better java, battery, louder tones, smaller, camera shutter, cheaper.
