Hello i am from chennai i would like to buy K700i. It costs around 17000 in chennai with bill and warranty. But when i went to Burma bazaar (grey market) the price of the phone is around 12.5k they have all the contents of the phone, CDs, manual and box. the phone also when i inspected had no scratches and looks as new but my doubt is its opened. Shall i buy the phone will there be any problem with the phone in course of time. the Imei number of the phone and the box is also same (He claims). How to view the IMEI number in the phone. there are some mobile there whic has a T mobile, orange, logo in the place where there should be a quickshare logo.

To check imei type *#06# It has t mobil, orange logo means its an unlocked one which has been sourced from other countries. There can very well be some problem with the phone, it can be the older firmware version with battery, stability issues. Apart from that more the features more the mobile is susceptible to messin up. Imo you shouldnt go for a phone without warranty.

@uma - Dont buy a branded phone. Such as from T-mobile,vodafone etc. You'll regret buying it. Check the firmware by the following sequence (write it down before going to buy in case you forget )-
> *
> - Joystick right
Follow the sequence to the end no matter what appears on the phone.
There are 3 options. In 'Service Info' You can view all info regd IMEI, firmware etc.
Also be sure to check out 'Service Tests'. Do all the tests to ensure the phone is working properly. Also check the 'call time' option in that menu to see total call time. It should be 00:00:00, otherwise the phone has been used.

Uma, do not buy the branded phones from Tmobile and orange etc. There phones wouldn't be serviced by the SE service centres as they are bought illegaly. If buying from a grey market, do the service tests as killr said. From the standby menu press the joystick in the following sequence. right * left left * left *

thanx guys for ur advice i am really pleased to get a K700i for Rs14,000 (boxed one) from singapore. its really a great phone. Its bluetooth capabilities are amazing its video playback quality is damn good, i have most of tamil songs in it. The transfer speed in bluetooth is 25kbps which is greater than its counterparts like Nokia 6230 which barely manages to get 8kbps. The video is damn clear with 1Mb/ min. I am using fma with it which works amazing now i am sending & recieving sms from my computer and phone is kept in the charger. I am using as a remote control for the computer.
PS. use a 100 m bluetooth dongle for excellent performance dont go in for 25 m one.
Any doubts regarding this phone cotact me. Its an amazing phone from SE except its inability to have an expansion slot
