I have had a big problem with getting the V800 to send my mail with my ISP-mail. I'm using Telia as an isp for may standard-mail and then I'm stuck with vodafone on the V800.

I have got the mail to work before on a t610... and thought it wouldn't be a problem now. But after several hours searching for an working outgoing SMTP-server I kind of gave up..

I talked to Voda and they said something about there is no such support for the V800...
This I think is bullshit when I have read about several people here that had their outgoing mail to work!

If this is some special swedish vodafone feature we have to do something.

So every Swede with a V800, please send a mail to internet.se@vodafone.com and tell them we want to be able to send mail from ower own mail-adress... not only from phonenumber@vodafone.com (something like that anyway).

This is a problem that most operators really doesn't care about is my experience, and there is no problem with the phone like Vodafone tried to claim.

In your case, the Swedish operator Telia will not accept you sending mail through their SMTP server when you are connected in a Vodafone network. Telia only accepts users that in some way are authenticated(through a known Telia IP number for example) to send mail through their SMTP mail server.

I can't understand how Vodafone(or any other network provider) think it's acceptable to read mail from one account and send them through another.

The only solution is to choose an e-mail provider that is a lot more interested in understanding the customer and has a more advanced SMTP server that can perform authentication.

One example of such service is :
http://www.fastmail.fm

Here you can get an account where you can read mail through POP3/IMAP and send mail through an authenticated SMTP server. The nice thing with this solution is that all SE phones from T610 and upwards supports authenticated SMPT(the phone uses the same username/passwd as the POP3/IMAP account for SMTP).

The other solution would be if Vodafone and Telia agreed on letting in their users on both their SMTP server. But what are the odds on this happening in the next few years...

Hope this helps....

Most of the ISPs use thier own server to send mails from all accounts, they doesnot require authentication. Also they r not support smtp thru mobile..
For best results using any other free services.. After long analysis
i foundout Yahoo.Uk server gives 250MB mail box with Popt/smtp facilty..these works nice with my phone..

CERTAIN email providers do not work, vlammetje had a lot of trouble with a third party email service provider, which i think is wrong of vodafone. allow the big networks email on the V800, i don't know which service you were using masseur, but others do not work, like the lesser known ones!

I must have missed that comment from vlam but I use half a dozen different email accounts and they were certainly all working for me during my trial of the V800. I just wish there was a way to say "check all accounts" in one go. its painful doing them one by one
