Why doesnt Sony Ericsson have a handset without the PDA functionality but still Symbian so we can have all the applications and full mobile internet.
Not everyone wants or needs a PDA! Come on S.E your S700i should of had that! Get more fun with your phones!

Because Joe Average does not need or use the smartphone functions of Symbian based operating systems.
How many Symbian Nokia owners do you reckon actually use or need the smartphone functions of their phones ? not many thats for sure.
Im sure also that the fact Nokia own Symbian ( i may be incorrect ) may have something to do with it too.

UIQ 3.0 will be out soon & SE will implement it in their phones as they have UIQ 2.0 & 2.1 in the P-Series.
The big change in 3.0 is that it can run on both touchscreen phones & normal style phones with a keypad etc.
Personally, I CAN'T WAIT!!

The technology is already there and the device is capable so it would be a waste not to make it part of the features of the phone. If you don't need it, don't use it.

Wehay:-) that sounds good! By the way, does Joe Average have womanly hands because in my opinion you got to have small hands and plenty of time to spare fiddling on a PDA when it comes to work.
PDA's dont suit everyone!

Nothing can suit everyone. That's why it will be better when SE can produce a wider range of Symbian devices.
I'd also rather they wait for UIQ 3.0 than use the clumsy, ugly & unintuitive Series60 platform. The new UIQ will blow Series60 away

& it's about time too

I think SE are doing what they always do; waiting until they can release the product they want to release, rather than giving a knee-jerk reaction to the market.
