Not to be rude, but what attempts did you make in solving your basic query prior to posting here?

That sounds rude to me.

nah I agree with Brittas. There wasn't much effort made to look for a select all option obviously.

I don't mind be rude to be honest.

Another way is, with the flip open, in your inbox (or sent items if you want to delete them), use the stylus to press on the little boxes on the left of each text message so that a tick appears in it. Carry on down for all the ones you want to delete. Or, to do it quicker, put your stylus on the first box, don't take it off, then drag it down the next 5 or so texts - this should make a tick appear in each of the boxes.

This is a great method for deleting them fairly quickly if you don't want to delete the whole lot, i.e. you've got one or two you want to keep, or you don't want to delete the last couple of days' worth of texts.

Nice tip sammy - cheers, and thank you also to the original poster for proving that seemingly obvious questions can benefit us all, and that there is no need for criticism when one is posted, especially not by a first-time poster!

Dont agree with this one...

Deleting messages isnt in my opinion a messageboard matter. Honestly, I know I have complained about the "search" thing being used, but come on... "how do I delete my messages?" you think thats a tough one to work out? Even for a technophobe? How much more user friendly and simple can manufactureres make things?

Especially if 500 of the buggers are already in and received... that presumably means something like 1000 SMS's have passed via that phone and now the dude asks how to delete them?? After 500 messages?

All I'm saying here is that I feel whoever it was (cant see from here) made a perfectly reasonable comment. Perhaps it should be answered?

Exactly dave UK - I keep learning of simple little tricks, often from threads like this one!

I'm with Methylated_Spirit on this one - having a go at newbies for asking obvious questions is something I don't like seeing - I know I've asked (and still sometimes ask!) silly and obvious questions. Some people may not have a manual with the phone (may have got it secondhand, for example) and perhaps can't download the manual for some reason.

Anyway, I'm going off topic here, best of luck @shippen3 with your deleting, and ignore the impolite on this forum

I'm not impolite at all. I talk openly and honestly to anyone. The problem is no one ever knows where the line is and disagreeing with someones opinion does not constitute rudeness.

I made the point a few weeks ago that "tips and tricks" etc can be learned from subjects being re-discussed... however my thread was quickly removed and the point therefore nullified. But apparently, if you have a really really basic question, which "some" mught say is actually very self-explanatory, thats ok... cos people pick up tips and tricks!?

So just to confirm... basic question demonstrating lack of common sense and ability to read manual = OK

A question of greater complexity that was discussed once in 2003, 6589 posts ago = Not acceptable.

Ah ha! Suddenly I see the sense... its not about time wasting at all is it!
