> question regarding firmware update

hi all, i have just updated my phone from sony ericssons site, well i thought i had, i have got R2L001, i am from the uk, so i thought i'd see if there was a later version available from SE, i was expecting to get a message like "no update available", as i thought i had the latest. but it went through the process and updated, i thought to myself, great there is a later better version, i checked the phone once it had finished, and i still have the R2L001, the same as before, so my questions is, does it do that everytime you update your phone, it just goes through the update process? doesn't it check which version you have got before going through the process, as i would like to get a message that says "you don't need to update" before i waist my time updating it, only to find it's the same version
can anyone answer that, does it normally just update or does it normally give you a message if you have the latest version available

did exactly the same, but on the second run i lost my themes. only to realize they were in the phone but i couldnt see them under themes. i tried putting a theme with the same name but it would rename by itself to xxx(1). master reset wouldnt solve it at all. i had to update it on recovery mode to get clear the phone completely

like i said i thought it wouldn't of updated the phone with the same firmware, and i didn't use the recovery, i used the update option
