As with the infamous P800 you can add a SIM lock and phone lock which stops others using a different sim card and also when you switch on the phone it asks for a security code. Another feature the P800 has is you can set the phone to lock after a period of unactivity. To unlock the phone you have to type in a security code. It is great if you have the phone lying around switched on no one can use it to make calls. With the k500i i can't find the same function. The nearest is when you have to press * then unlock to unlock. Does anyone know how to set it up so you have to type in the code.

No, i don't leave it lying at work or in public places. It is just that my nephews and children love to 'borrow' it to ring their mates or play games or change settings.

thanks for the reply. Here i was thinking all new mobile phone will have a security feature to prevent unauthorised use. Even a humble nokia 3410 has this feature.
