Hi Guys,
I recently bought P910i earlier I had the Nokia’s first phone with camara 7650. No doubt P910 is a amazing phone, but I have certain problems
1. The formats for black and while picture messages that were supported by earlier phones (images folder in Nokia 7650) are not supported by this phone.
2. The formats for ringtones ( polyphonic type) supported by earlier phones are not supported by this phone. I get number of ringtones from my friends or download it from my service provider via messages. The message arrives with a note that this file format is not supported….however when you look at the ring tone on web it says its Polyphonic type…. I never had these problems with higher end Nokia or Samsung phones
3. AVI or MPEG video clip are also not supported. Only MPEG4 and GPP type clips are supported

Is that a way or work around that I can have support for these files…. I could not find any free converters available on web too…

The crappy 'picture messages' were a standard made by Nokia. Most other manufacturers use the superior EMS (Enhanced Message Service) instead which enable large & small fonts, bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, centre, right/left justification, insert ANIMATIONS and still pics and SOUNDS!!
IMHO that beats the piss out of Nokias messages!

The phone supports the following ringtones:
MP3
MP4-AAC
WAV
AMR
3GPP-Audio
AAC (Raw)
MIDI
iMelody
RMF
AU

If u can't find any of those the u've got a problem
Also why on earth do u want a polyphonic tone when u can use actual MP3 music for goodness sake!

The videos supported a MPEG-4 and 3GP. There are many available for download or u could get a converter.

Yaa guys that’s very true, why going for polyphonic tones….. but here in INDIA as I said polyphonic tones keep coming as messages from many of my friends and I cannot listen them. Even the messages send by them which contains Black and white pic cannot be viewed by me…. So in a way I have bought a mobile with no way to communicate….. As they would not be able to see my EMS ( as u say enhanced message service ) and I wont be able to view their Lesser enhanced message service…. The whole concept for communication would be lost. Is there any work around…
What is this smart player…. Were can I download it from…. As the player that comes as default with P910 phone does not support AVI or MPEG format files…

What actual format are the ringtones? MIDI? They should play. Look in Music Player, press Music > Manage Tracks > Edit > Preferences & ensure all boxes are ticked.

Ah, another Nokia only format.
Unfortunately your problem here due to Nokias desire to set their own seperate standards rather than integrating with other manufacturers.
Get all your friends to get new phones

That would be really great when I ask all of my friends to get their sets changes from NOKIA to SONY…. Rather they would get me changed from a friend to not known

Or you can keep an older phone from nokia to communicate with your friends still dealing with these relics.
No way ... Nokia ringtones and picture messages wont work with your superior sony ericsson ...
I had the same problem but I am happy with my phone and so I realy don't mind missing some old ringtones or picture messages in the sake of better ones.
