> Total Multiserver Debranding Problem
Bookmark topic
I've got a T28 unlocking cable and a credit in order to debrand my already unlocked Vodafone S700i. Read through thoroughly the instructions on Totalserver. Downloaded the R3F008 firmware and associated EU2 Language files, also the v1.43 Totalserver client. Set everything as required and hit Flash, pauses for a second and then it says "!!! PRESS ON BUTTON OF THE PHONE SHORTLY !!!". Tried leaving it assuming it means press when prompted, also tried powering it on then and nothing. Eventually times out and shows as aborted.
Tried the cable in both COM1 and COM2 ports of my PC and switching the settings on the client, nothing.
I'm wondering if it's got anything to do with my having a DSS-20 SyncStation. I've made sure to set it so COM1 & COM2 are disabled in the syncstation settings and that the Sony apps are closed when I run the TotalServer client. When they are enabled the phone monitor pops up and says there is "No SIM inserted" which seems to indicate the cable is ok.
Any ideas anyone?

Tried on another PC which is devoid of any software that could possibly interfere with the COM port or flashing.
Still sits there at the "PRESS ON BUTTON..." message. Tried taking the battery out for a while then re-inserting before pressing the power button very quickly and no joy.
One thing I have noticed is that on the PC with the Sony Software, the phone monitor will connect and synchronisation will work using the T28 unlocking cable. Is that right or do I have a data cable instead of an unlocking cable? Certainly sold as an unlocking cable, looks similar to the one's I've seen in pictures and was bought with a Totalserver credit.
Any help is much appreciated.

A bit more investigation and I've found a pin out for the T28 service cable. According to the diagram pins 9 & 11 on the Sony connector should be linked. I've metered my cable and they aren't so I'm guessing I've been sent a bog standard data cable in error. Tried getting in touch with the supplier and they're a bit slow.
Can anyone confirm?
Might be easier for me to re-wire the cable myself or I could be waiting weeks from what I've now seen posted about the supplier. Also can anyone confirm whether just a few pin assignments need changing? I've seen another cable diagram and that used a serial transceiver in between the Sony and serial port connectors.

Your right, pin 9 and 11 should be connected and this connection should also be connected to the Vcc pin of the RS232 chip in the cable.

Thanks for confirming that wrls.
I'll see if faceoffmobiles.com eventually get back to me, 2 days so far and no response. Might be easier to just buy another cable, any recommended retailers out there, who also offer multiserver credits too.

It was the wrong cable. Good news though
www.faceoffmobiles.com were already on the case following my email and this morning I received a new service cable. All in all a very quick turnaround, included was an apologetic letter explaining some cables were labelled incorrectly hence the mistake and they've also said I can keep the data cable due to the inconvenience - now that's what I call service.
Jagger2k, the differences between the cables is fairly obvious so I'd check that first. Near the Sony connector end is an in-line black box, about 1" x 1/2" and must be home to the serial transceiver. If that doesn't appear on the length of the cable then I suspect you'll have a data cable. Get in touch with
www.faceoffmobiles.com through their web site and I'm sure they'll offer advice and sort things out if required.

Hi everyone who was sent these wrong cables has been sent another even if they havent emailed us
the problem is all supliers have different ways of making cables
yes these replcements do have the little black box where the chip is but not all have this some have the chip encased inside the com port connector
the only way to tell if you have the right cable is to use the check RSA on all old SE phone even if RSA was not released in them or check CID button in new SE phones
