Hi!
This is my first post, seems like a great forum!

One simple question:
I have a SE car holder but no handsfree (I use a bluetooth unit).
I have connected a cigarette charger to the holder, and it works fine.
However, the phone covers up my clock in the car (Saab 95) and there's no way to install it anywhere else....
I would like to be able to have the backlight on a all times when the phone is in the car mount without having to start an app and select light on, or having to wade through the constrol panel/screen settings to set it to always on.

Is this possible? What would be great would be if I could define a key (internet key maybe) to the function "light always on", and that this would be returned to normal when activating key lock.

Anyone got a good idea on how to do this? A tech in a local store said I needed to buy one of those handfree units with mike and speaker to keep the light on whenever I put the phone in the car. However, I prefer my BT HF as I don't want everyone in my car to hear all my calls at all times, and paying that money and installing it seems a bit over the top to accomplish what I want...

Hope for some help, and maybe someone can shed some light on this for me (pun intended, sorry...)

Frode

Hi!

Thanks, but this doesn't seem to work.
At least, the quick keys don't function, meaning I have to go to the app and select light on. Not much help over the kontrol panel option...
Also, it fades, then jumps back to light every few seconds....

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Frode

Hi!

OK, I got the quick keys to work.
App needs to run i background off course!
Any way of making it auto start on power up?

When in flip close mode, the display keeps powering down, then coming back down.
I have the light on 100% both for dim and lit, no screen save, and no power save function enabled.

for autostart, if you use sman or tracker, you can set which apps you want to launch at power up.

Yes, it works that way in flip close, a bug?

I don't use a flip so i don't bother. As said you can use s-man to autostart it.

Hi!

Cool. But I just installed the SE desktop app, and really like it.
Will the two apps you mention mess wkth that in any way?
I had Sman installed, but I removed it, because every time I opened the flip, it defaulted to Sman, and not the SE skin. Annoying.

Anyone else using the SE skin with any of these? Was I doing something wrong? Could I set up Sman to not default when opening flip?

Thanks,

Frode

There is quite many app where you can make a choice which to start at FO. One popular app is Tracker which you can test for 15 days and see if you like it.

I actually have the SE car holder & their Blue Tooth HF kit. I have the settings in the P910 setup to be on while in the car, but it won't stay on. How does the P910 know it's in the car? Mine doesn't seem to know.

I think the in-car setting only works with the WIRED car kit.

This was an old Ericsson feature where the accessories had ID chips that would tell the phone what it was attached to... handsfree... car kit... desktop charger... etc...

I'm not quite sure how the new car kit works... but the older Ericsson phones would switch to car mode if there was a power suppy, and a wired handsfree plugged into the bottom connector.
