wml is the first wap language.
xhtml is html water down, so it has a few more options like CSS (coloured backgrounds)
access keys - use keypad as shortcut

etc etc

Wml is wap 1.1 and xhtml is 2.0 right? Correct if wrong. This message was posted from a T230

There is not much difference between the esato wml and xhtml site but there are some sites which are only xhtml version so people with wap1.0 browsers cant open them. In xhtml the interface can be neater and more visually appealin with addition of txt colors, backgrounds etc.

clank nailed it. Plus an xhtml browser also allows you view web (not just WAP) pages with simple layouts.
