I am trying to send a friend a MMS with an MP3 attached, the recipient gets a text saying that it contains features not compatiable with the phone.

We are both with the O2 Network. I am using a K700i and she is on a Nokia 6230 which I know can handle MP3s.

Anyone have any ideas why this isnt working, we haave been able to send other MMS with attachments including AMR and MID files.

Thanks for any help

I thought all the networks had a 100kb size limit on files sent with MMS.

That's why (most/all?) phones that can take video usually have a limit on the amount you can film - around 9/10 seconds usually.

If so, that would probably explain why you can't send MP3s, that are probably well over 100kb.

EDIT: AMR and in paricular MID files are very small by their nature, so would probably come in under 100kb.

that would make sense but this MP3 is only very small at 37Kb. Its not a whole song, just a sound file.

I'm grabbing at straws now, but maybe the networks are able to block files based on their file extension.

We all know about the current media frenzy surrounding file sharing, in particular MP3 files, to perhaps that is the networks method of shutting down P2P music sharing. Albeit a very expensive and very slow method!
