Heya Guys,

Just bought my K700i today, it was the PAYG Orange one from The Link. Checked the firmware it was the second released version. I was wondering if anyone in the UK knows where I can get his updated without losing my warenty?

I know Car Phone Warehouse upgrade it for free under warenty but im unsure whether they can flash the orange branded ones or not?

Looking to get it done before Christmas so I can have a good play over the hoidays.

Cheers,

Jay

i'm not entirely sure myself. i hsve heard that they can, but dont take my word for it. The best thing to do is walk into a CPW and ask... or just wait for a reply here

Well I can give u all the info u need

I have a Orange K700 and have recently had it updated. Unless u can find an SE service centre then you will have to have it sent to ACR Logistics.

I would go into either an Orange shop or CPW to get this done. It will however take 7-10 working days. If you go to either of the above (they will still send it to ACR but save u the initial postage) then if you want a replacement phone to keep you ticking over then they will ask for a £50 deposit. I got a reall old Nokia nk420 or something so i'd recommend going to the CPW as they will probably give u a Nokia 1100.

You will also need proof of purchase too.

Another West Midlands guy! Sorted

So not much chance really of getting it back before christmas. Balls. There noway CPW would update it for me? Seen on their repairs page that they can usually do them in the same day. Or is this an exception?

Cheers,

Jay

I think they used to be able to, and the one I went to may not have been a service point (so I may be wrong) but I'm pretty sure they said they would have to send it off.

Good luck!

Can you update the firmware of Orange K700s online yet? I knew they couldn't before, not sure if you can now.

If it is possible, all you need is a DSS-20 or DSS-25 SyncStation (like you get with a P800 or P900), and an internet connection, preferably broadband. Make sure you're battery is fully charged, and the whole process will take no longer than about 15 minutes. I can't remember the webpage, but it's on the website.

I was looking on the CPW website and they have a repair area in the fort one as you said.

Ill phone them up and ask them if they can do it in the same day. Ill drop it off and then go and pick it up later. Its only about 30 mins away (if the M6 isnt rush hour that is!).

If you have any luck at the fort with updating your K700i let me know!
