> S700i sms bug

Before anyone asks this is NOT a network problem i have tested it by swapping my sim card. OK. I am not receiving texts on my s700 they are always about 24 hour late, and it takes ages to send a text. They come in batches of 2 or 3 in no particular order. Has anyone had this problem on theirs or on similar on the k700? I am going to get a replacement unless this isnt a one off problem.

It could still be a network problem, the problem doesn't necessarily have to be with your SIM card. Phone your network and ask them to have a look at your account, there may be something they can do at their end.

Do you happen to be with O2. I have heard of reports that people with K700s on O2 having a similar problem. Sorry but I dont know the solution.

Yes i am on 02. I got someone to send me a sms on my s700i and after 10 mins it didnt come. I then put my sim card in my old samsung e700 and i received both texts instantly. Another clue was the interferance lines on my moniter, i could see that there was network actitivity but the phone did nothing.

This isn't always due to the mobile itself. I regularly recieve messages with several hour delays. This can be a conflict between networks etc. Though it's happened on my t610 and k700 with both major networks here in Australia.
I think it's really just a flaw with the sms service. If you really want to get in contact with someone, call them. sms isn't urgent by any means.

Maybe I can shed some light on the issue if you haven't found out already. O2.
O2 are quite simply a crap company and released the S700i knowing forwell that they were having issues with texting and the k700i. Unsuprisingly the issue reappeared in the S700i and is still unresolved.
I got my S700i when in came out in Oct '04 and have been having problems ever since. Symptoms include messaging that is day late and sometimes won't work at all. Sending seems to be fine.
After sending a very angry letter of complaint to O2 i was finally rung today. Basically, they cannot guarantee that your S700i will work correctly on the network and seem to offer nothing to those who have had months of misery with it.
Firstly they offered to replace it with the K700i at which I nearly ptu the phone down. They then offered to replace it and finally offered a month of free line rental. I personally don't feel this is good enough as they have blatently been in breach of contract since October and therefore I really am considering sueing if they don't get realistic with me.
Some people can use it fine, as a general rule I love the phone. However the stress that has been caused by it being crap will probably mean that I cancel the contract. This is another classic case of how poor O2 is, maybe now is the time to join a network that is more expensive but will actually work!

I know that ther have been people that have been told by O2 that their K700i is not working completely with O2`s sms system. How this can be I dont know. The S700 is very similar to the K700 so this could be the problem.
