Yeah lots of usefull apps like:
1211 different (but basically the same) currencyconverters
913 different (but basically the same) worldclocks
643 different (but basically the same) nutritiantables
etc etc

Most apps for smartphones are more or less useless nonsense

what exactly are the many apps you really cannot live without having on your phone ?

Before getting to infatuated in the idea of a smartphone - one should really ask - what kind of apps do I really need - do I really need a smartphone, and will the app I can get for the smartphone really fullfill my need any better than the app I get in a non smartphone of today.

I think smartphones are generally overrated - most buyers of smartphones dont really use it any different than a normal phone. I know several smartphoneowners - and none use it as a smartphone- but just as a regular phone.

PS: I do realize that some people have good use of smartphones - Im only pointing out that most people really dont have any good reason to need them.

What about such apps like book readers, pocket microsoft office, opera browser, 3d games? And ability to launch n gage games on it? If you want your phone to do whatever you want, you can always learn cplusplus and write your own app. I kno guy that made himself a prog that counts all his money spent on phone. yeah - but how many people really read books on their mobilephone, or need pocketoffice on their phones ? how many actually use their phone to work with complex spreadsheets ? K700 plays both 3dgames and S60 games - you dont need a smartphone for that. How many deside to learn cplusplus and creates own apps - just because they got a smartphone ? I doubt its that many.

My point is still the same - its abilities and use are much overrated for most people - if you work seriously with office programs you do it on your computer, if you want series gaming you do it on your computer or a real gameconsole (ps2/xbox) - not on a puny litle smartphone.
Browsing the internet is also not that big a thrill on a small smartphonescreen (opera or not). For serious businesspeople there may be some good reasons for a smartphone - but for the rest 80% average Joes its nothing but a statusgadget to make them feel "important" - "I can install all these great apps on my smartphone, so what have you installed, well nothing at the moment, but I can if I would" - by far most of them either dont use or only limitedly use any of these particular smartphone features.

By far the average user are more than satisfied with the normal small phone of todays standard - that in itself offers so much.

And its no like Ive had no experience with smartphones - my first reaction when they came out was wow but....
I had a bulky P800 but put it in a drawer for the nice T610 that didnt ruin my suit. My P900 went the same place for the K700.

I also have an Ipaq which id much rather use for this purpose than a phone - but must admit I dont even use that very much.

6670, 7210, 6600, 6630, 7200, N-gage, QD, etc etc = same phones, 80% same features, mono speakers, just different design.
