Hi all,

I've only had my Voda 3G V800 for a week now (after about a year of rock-solid performance on a Z600) and I notice that the hinge is "creaking". By this, I mean that there seems to be some play in the silver plastic edges on the hinge that creak and move if you press them and also creak, if there is any sort of flexion, like when you hold the phone against your ear.

Is this evident on anyone else's V800, or just mine??

Incidentally, my wife also has a V800 and there is a tiny creak on hers, but nowhere near as bad as mine!

@gadgetnutter

I don't experience any creaking sound when holding my V800 against my ear, although there is a slight sound when pressing the circular edges of the hinges. The circular edges also depress slightly.

Mines creak only on the right side of the hinge when depressed...anyone else have this problem?

Well, the bad news is that I have just returned from a large Vodafone retail store, where *all* of the staff and display phones exhibited the same problem, to a lesser or greater degree.

One member of staff even admitted that he thought it was an "obvious design flaw".

I plan to contact my local SE service centre tomorrow, to see if they have any suggestions.

Once a phone is released and a mass amount product exhibits the same problem, the chances of a fix are pretty slim.

A partial solution is not to press the silver circular edges.
