Do Motorola phones just plain suck?
A1000 - woooo.. promising from the specs on the web but wait!
1. handwriting recognition is super inaccurate
2. interface is confusing
3. picsel viewer only...no editor for documents
4. crippled browser--meaning 3 ( the server) only allows websites where they earn something
5. downloaded files go missing--so they have to repeat the process costing people money
6. cam sucks
MPX220 - Wow! cool! camera is great! ooops sudden malfunction!
1. My friend's cam suddenly can't take a picture of anything but dark if not pitch black images. --- Note: this phone brags of a flash yet it produces a dark and noisy pic.
Are Motorola phones worth buying? which ones?

My experience with most moto phones is summed up in the title of this thread: Great on paper; sucks in real life. The only moto I ever used & will confidently recommend is the Accompli 008. But I gather that the RAZR V3 is another winner. Yet to get myself one: been too let down by moto to even look their way in recent times.

Can´t comment that since i have not tried it, but it (me really) was super inaccurate on Ipaq too in the beginning.. you sure it´s the phone´s fault?
2. interface is confusing
That is very subjective.. for you maybe, for others it might be great?
3. picsel viewer only...no editor for documents
Dunno what a "picsel viewer" is to be honest..
4. crippled browser--meaning 3 ( the server) only allows websites where they earn something
Now that is not the phone´s fault, is it? I doubt Motorola meant it like that..
5. downloaded files go missing--so they have to repeat the process costing people money
I suspect either '3' or user error there too..
6. cam sucks
Show me a mobile phone camera that DOESN`T suck bigtime... compared to even the cheapest "proper" camera

I´d say the V3 for sure.. know people with V500/25 that are very happy too. E398 seems to be generally doing what it´s supposed to as well.

@vineet: True in a general sense. But of the 22 phones I have used in the last 3 years, 4 of them have been motos. I also deal with phone users daily. Most people I know have a long list of serious & valid complaints about the performance of moto phones in general. As a matter of fact, most wont touch a moto with a long pole. Feature-packed, yes; but wanting in performance. Not all; just too many models.

Well I know four people with motorola's and all seem pretty happy with them, not used them much myself but don't find much fault when playing with theres.
As for the camera, with the exception of the S700 I find they out perform any of the

phones I've had in most conditions. Sounds like your mates MPx is faulty??
As far as my experience with phones been using Mobiles now for about ten years and started back when it was analogue not digital and my first phones phonebook consisted of storing a number under the numbers 1-9. Them was the days when I could actually remember a phone number in my head

The C33x & C350 series are particularly bad. A friend came around today with her weeks-new A835. The camera was no longer capturing. It couldnt send or receive any files via both Infrared & bluetooth (tested it against my p800), something other phones do without a hitch. Again, no doubt that moto has some great phones whose performance match the hype, but they seem more like chance occurences.

I too am most dissapointed with moto, I had the a768, i'm very dissapointed, cause shifting from my p800 to a768, the camera sucked, TFT 65k screen, 320x240, so cool! But, hey! its not transreflective!!!
cant see a damn thing in the sunlight.
No (Absolutely none) Applications available for the a768. No Memory Expansion.
The negative points far outweigh the posithives of this phone, had to shift over to imate.

You are absolutely right. Motorola as well as Se and other brands that i dont want to mention dont even come close to the quality of a nokia phone. I use the nokia 6230 and just love it. I tried them all and there is nothing oven close to a nokia. Be happy buy a nokia.
