Hi folks,
Being a newbie to this forum, I carefully searched it first to see if anyone else already reported this problem but seems I'm alone.
Got a P800 and everytime I try to connect to the Internet through GPRS my phone will reboot after 1mn.
Got the settings for GPRS of the SFR site (France) but also tried the SonyEricsson site. In fact the worst thing is that I managed to get the Internet to work once last week through the Opera browser but since then, my phone goes brain dead when trying to connect.
To save time, here's my firmware versions:
Phone: CXC162002 R2F
Bluetooth: CXC12529 R5A
Agenda: CXC162001 R2D02
CDA: CDA162001/2 R5A02
Any hope or should I take it back to the shop since it's still under warranty?
Thanks for any pain sharing and even better... solution!

Welcome to Esato

. I use a P800, and your firmware seems to be up-to-date. If your phone is still under warranty, my suggestion is that you get it replaced or fixed. That should save you a whole lot of headaches. The problem could be improper software installation or some other factory fault.

I saw this behavior on a P900 too, but there it was because the ROM was reflashed and the IMEI changed, but the GDFS was still the original one (and WAP-locked on O2). The guy bought it cheap (about 200€) from another guy but without any invoice or charger, guess guess what happened there, esp since IMEI was different on sticker than on screen! He bought an I-mate Jam NEW instead, not sure what he did with that shady P900, I guess it's just good for parts!
I assume the same applies to P800.
So if you bought it off eBay or second hand from 'a friend', you may start to wonder what could be going on!
If not, bring it back to a service centre and get it totally reprogrammed.

Thanks dirkies,
Indeed something kind of similiar happened to me. Well bought mine for $150 from the SE developer site. Special offer!!!! When I received it the firmware was half corrupted, tried to get it flashed and I was told the phone had a hardware fault. Nice thing is to then be told that the international warranty doesn't cover replacing the motherboard. (read the small characters at the end of the warranty, it's true!)
Luckily found another shop that managed to get the motherboard replaced and guess what... That's a new IMEI!
But tell me, what is the GDFS you mention?
And amazingly enough, this morning my phone is connecting through GPRS once again but I'm now scared to turn it off...
Cheers

GDFS = Global Data File System (=security area)
contains provider info which is normally locked, logos, modified menus, and also an IMEI reference AFAIK. Cannot be reflashed using DIV
The P900 I saw would open its internet browser, and all of a sudden simply power cycle, like the phone detects it was hacked or something is not consistent with the AVR (main program area) or AVM (modem, IR, bluetooth area), and reboots.
