If se offered you accesories/free air time would you allow them to monitor your phones memory and usage? l.e. an automated message would be sent once a week from your phone to se detailing what programs you have lnstalled and how often you use them...

I would!

I am not sure I would support that. I suppose it depends on how much of my personal info they would get and what it would be used for. The info would have to be used to develope first party software from or Symbian to be part of the OS for me to even consider. If it were strictly program related and didn't show what sort of info was sent or give my user info I might support it. If any personal info was transmitted or any any reports were to be generated based on the info I would for sure refuse.

If it was just a log of what apps u have installed then yes as that would show them the kind of thing people use and want in the phone & hopefully can be added in future models.
I also wouldn't be bothered if it sent the amount in MB of memory used for pics, mp3s, vids etc.

@ frontman
Why not? If it doesn't send any personal info & could help make future products better

Is this actually on the cards, or is this just a pointless "what if" thread?

Probably a "What if" thread, but this idea is not unheard-of, so it's not really pointless.

Yeah, being a cheapskate, I would let them monitor all but the most personal stuff in exchange for free airtime or texts or accessories or something. It would have to be worthwhile tho..

I don't think SE could exactly offer free air-time or texts & it's probably not worth them handing out accessories

Well if there was a privacy contract on it, and I could be sure that no text or conversation was transmitted, I would be happy to give my contribution to SE Product development, and if I could get free memorysticks or somthing like that Id be Thrilled ! This message was posted from a P900
