Newcastle Upon Tyne, home to the Tyne Bridge, Baltic, Millennium Eye, Sage music centre and St James is to soon be the home of the largest Sony Centre in the United Kingdom. Due to open on 10th January 2005, it has been announced that it will be selling the whole sony ericsson range, and have a whole wall/area devoted to

. This, in turn, means that demonstrations, firmware/software upgrades (and Jobs!

) will be available, plus all the latest news on upcoming events and models.
I shall keep you posted

Thats good news., I remember when your local Sony Center sold sony mobile phones, and you could connect through Sony Cellular Services, cant remember who they used though.
Hopefully if it takes off, their normal stores will start to stock them

I guess thats good news for those up your way but I do hope that we are not going to get a new thread for each Sony centre that suddenly starts selling SE stuff
Nokia have had shops for ages (in UK run by CPW) so its nice that SE is having their own non-mobile phone shop affiliated retail outlets

No, this is the largest, which is important. No need to be sarcastic!
It means, for once, that people will know what they are talking about when they mention Sony Ericsson and there will be dedicated workers there. And then more

stuff will be sold through other sony centres as a result of this. This is what the guy said, he said if this shop proves a success, other sony centres that do not sell

currently will start/not do/doing so!
regards

why should a Sony shop that suddenly sells SE be knowledgable and know what they are talking about?
as I said, I like the idea of Sony shops selling SE but as I mentioned in the other thread today, the Sony shop in tottenham court road, which is quite large and has a dedicated area with dedicated people, haven't got a single clue the few times I have been in there asking specific questions and they have been selling SE for at least 6 months
actually I think its the same people who used to work there before but who now just wear SE jackets
anyway, keep us posted on your experiences

a very good idea.
smaller SONY shops should do this aswell, they won't sell that many SE phones, but every bit counts, and alot of bits make a big bit

@masseur
Perhaps the jackets impart special SE powers to them.

But masseur not everybody wastes their time on forums talking about mobile phones - if they dont know something, at least they CAN FIND OUT -they have access, and that is the important thing. we can get official releases and rumours fromt there, squeeze the unnofficial news out of them.
and u will find that even though the tottenham shop is buggered, the people in this shop DO know what they are talking about, dont just assume all sony centre workers are a load of bollocks, they wouldnt be employed if they didnt know what they were talking about.
what i mean is, the nokia shops are much more efficient than lets say phones4u and lets hope this shop can live up to that.
