got a strange mail from SE today..

I'm guessing that your webmail service has removed them because they link to a website..

The adress is genuine.
Your e-mail program is configured to not show images in e-mail for security/privacy reasons. Security: jpg' have been known to carry viruses, jpg's that are put in a mail to be retrieved on a webserver can be used to trace if you have really received & read the mail so as to validate the e-mail address)
(It can't be the first time you see these 'removed' messages?)

yeah, the subject was "We've got a little something for you..." but then there was an SE image and underneath that was text that said "And it sounds like fun" and underneath that was "discover it now" which you had to click to get to the musical page
