yes its more then enough for headfones but if u use the headfone out to conect it to other speakers it really makes a difference.

But those volume boost things actually increase the mp3 file and not the ipod settings, hence the distortion...I used it for a little while and decided it wasnt worth the loss is quality.

Are you sure that it changes the mp3 setting?

Im just asking because when i used it on my ipod i had over 600 songs and all it took was 1second, which for me is to fast to convert 600 songs.

I may be compleatly wrong.

Might be different versions, when U first used the mac version it would go through each song.

Heres how it works.
Each mp3 track on your ipod has a volume tag, which determines the overall amplitude of the mp3 when it is played on a device. In simple terms, EU ipods basically reduce the value of this volume tag when you transfer the mp3 to the ipod.
The EUpod volume boost program, which is almost as old as the ipod itself, counteracts this volume tag value reduction by restoring the original volume tags on all the mp3 files. As noticed, it takes about 1 second to update the volume tags on 600 files, as it is simply a case of changing a numerical value.
The program DOES NOT alter the amplitude of the mp3, only the tag, so it DOES NOT cause any distortion.
I like my music loud so this program was a lifesaver for me.
