this morning, i took my sim card out of my p900 to fiddle around with another cell that i'm going to give someone for christmas.
after i was done, i put the sim card back into my p900, started it up, entered pin code, and now it tells me "WRONG SIM-CARD" (actually in german, i'm translating).
a check in the service menu shows that all networks are locked, and i have 0 attempts left to unlock.
so, what the f*ck happened?
i never tried unlocking it, i certainly didn't do it 5 times in a row, and how am i going to get my phone back?
is there a "download-this-software-and-your-troubles-will-be-over" solution? or is it off to the carrier's shop?
thanks,
dm

Looks like its a back to the carrier shop mate... explain your problem... did you put a different SIM card in the P900?

aaaw man !
no, i didn't put anything else in there.
i'm not asking for a way to get a sim-free p900, i just want my old simlock back. at least that worked
i'm thinking ... if i try the SE self-update thing ... shouldn't my phone get flashed with my carrier's specific version of the OS?
does this flashing procedure also reset firmware in a way so that the initial simlock would be reactivated?
i could do that tomorrow. "back to the shop" would mean another day's wait !
(oh gosh, i can't fall asleep without reading a bit in my ebooks
thanks for the swift reply.
cheers, daniel

no, not at all. it's just that i'm too fidgety to fall asleep, i need to submerge my brain in some gripping thriller/crime story so i start to get tired.
BUT WHAT TO DO ???
i'm now back at home (from my parent's), and i realized i left my sync station in the office.
can i try the SE software update thingie for my p900 via bluetooth?
will that work, and will it restore my usual simlock setup?

trying to connect via a bluetooth connection will not work with the online update. And even if you upgrade i dont think this will reset your phone lock code.
there is a cheaper option you can do. I believe DIV (terminator dongle) can read the phone codes and tell you this. The software is free and the Terminator dongle on costs about £15.
otherwise its a service centre job.

so basically, when i go to a service center, let them have "My Precious" for 6 days then pick it up, they did nothing else than what one of those cellphone dealers around the corner does for 20 bucks, namely just hook it up to a computer and "crack" it? with a dongle and unlock software?

well for what you want yeah.
but full debranding and upgrading can only be done with more advanced equipment. i have spent alot of money on this but i am well into profit.

i was just trying to decide if i should go the "legitimate" way and have "official" service center people perform "official" unlocking operations and "officially" keep my guarantee.
or i don't want to live without my phone for 2-8 weeks and just have non-official pro do it.
you sound like you know what you're doing. most of those cellphone-shop-owners look kind of suspicious to me, and i'm kind of reluctant to hand them over my $600+ phone, especially if they can't give me a guarantee that they won't break it.
you don't happen to know a good place to go to in vienna, austria, don't you?
thanks for your help. full-sim-free is looking better all the time.
(better re-sale value, when that p920 with w-lan and geforce gfx comes out)
