Hey all,
I'm new to forums (please go easy..

and have myself a SE S700i on Vodafone. Basically I'm trying to get MP3's to work as ringtones (as Vodafone have blocked this feature, no wonder their S700i is so cheap on contract.. pah..)
I've done searches on the web etc and found the DRM packager, thing is.. I don't know how to use it.. I "copyrighted" an MP3 and sent it to my S700i, but it still can't be used as a ringtone (the options "set as ringtone" is in fade, meaning the file cannot execute that option..)
I have no idea about DRM and all this nonsense, all I know is Vodafone blocked the MP3 feature and I need to "copyright" the MP3s on my phone if I wanted to use them as ringtones?
Thanks for taking the time to read this, I desperately need help from you pro's out there..

Open Sony Ericson DRM packager
Click on 'Options'
Set your options like this: (remember to use forward lock!)
Click OK
Choose your Device Type. Your screen should look like this:
Now you are ready to start working on your MP3
Click on Add.
Select your MP3
Click on 'Create DRM Content'
Wait until the message 'File(s) protected successfully' appears.
You should now be able to find a file with extension .dm in your output folder. Your output folder can be viewed in the bottom bar of the DRM packager window.
Good luck

Thank you for the reply Vlammetje
I have done all this, but I didn't understand the .dm output part.
The MP3 song has been copyrighted (and the setting is set to "forward-lock") but still the MP3 refuses to be set as a ringtone on my S700i...
Any idea why it won't play? I double checked if it was copyrighted and a message shows with the options "overwrite" "overwrite all" "skip" "skip all" and "cancel" so the MP3 has definately been copyrighted yes?
Edit: For some reason when I was replying to your post, my message suddenly sent (and I didn't click Submit..)

Ummm....... "mp3song.dm" song?? I don't see no file with a ".dm" extension.. I thought the original file (mp3) was copyrighted....?
I went to the DRM packager folder, there is only:
Profile folder
DRM cmdLine
DRM Packager
License (text docu)
Logfile (text docu)
Readme (text docu)
Uninstall and
Untitled (text docu, it's the list file)
....So where is this ".DM" extension file...? I'm so sorry for being dumb if it's in the obvious... *embarressed look*

@LeeG,
Erm, it should be done easily. U can play the songs but can't done it on ringtones right ?
IMHO, all V800 can set as ringtones when they have the settings on DRM. While K700i is different a bit. ( S700i will be the same with K700i platform ). Check the settings back on the forum..
