Is there a way to force my p910i so that the backlight is always on when it is charging, i.e. in the cradle or plugged into the cigarette lighter charger? i.e. like a auto-profile without turning it on permanently in settings. I looked at "turn on the light" but it requires you to assign a button and have it running all the time, not really ideal.

no i dont think you can do this. Under power setting you can switch the light to be always on and adjust the intensity but thats it. no special option for charging.
