> AAC On P series! At Last!
Bookmark topic
Hmm... Was playing with christmas present and just found out that the music player in my P910i plays AAC (.m4a) files! At last! This was all that was keeping me from ripping CDs at 192kbps AAC as opposed to 320kbps MP3.
Anyways, just thought I'd say, and this one is especially targetted at iTunes users (Apple seems to love AAC).
Sorry if most thought this was obvious, but I didn't, and thought it appropriate for a little christmas post.
Alright! Have fun, and Merry Christmas!

This only relates to the P910! And I thought you were talking about an app for the P-series!
Anyway, I hate to bear the bad news, ~lozishere~, but iTunes purchased songs are protected AAC's and only play on iPods and designated computers.

Yeah, I was talking about iTunes in general here. Mainly because 1. I use it 24/7 and 2. Because AAC is the default format for a CD to rip to. There's more to iTunes than just the store, you know!

Yup

thus far, I had already ripped over 80 songs from my CDs into my P910i and AAC/M4A has definitely proven itself far better than MP3 in terms of sound quality and compression ratio
Cheers

Apple's Itunes is free but not sure whether it supports wma, etc. Anyway, try not to convert from one lossy format into another cos the sound quality will be pretty bad. The best is still to reconvert your music from normal CDs.
Cheers

I know... my whole collection is already in MP3 format... don't wanna have to reconvert... or have mixed versions.
Are ALL AAC files protected? The reason I love MP3s is that I can just transfer them from one device to another without the hassle of the annoying copy protection in wma files.

So the answer is, use iTunes to convert CD´s to AAC?

No, only protected AAC files are protected! If you buy music from the iTunes Music Store, then of course they will be protected. If you use iTunes to rip your CDs to AAC format yourself then the AAC files will not be protected.
