I mean we act like the Christmas Day is everybody's birthday. We give and we get presents but we forget Who's birthday really is? I think we all forget baby Jesus as the ONLY 'must be' celebrated person.

If you see it as a "Jesus" issue then perhaps it's his death and resurrection that should be celebrated and not his birth. There's no Scriptural basis for Christmas and it appears the modern celebration is based on the pre-Christian winter solstice celebration.

What do you mean 'there's no scriptural basis' about his birth?

I mean there is no Scriptural basis for CELEBRATING His birth. Jesus told us to break bread (Holy Communion) in remembrance of Him. The celebration of Christ's birth is a fairly late arrival in the Christian calendar.

Perhaps you talk about the precise day which indeed is conventionally chosen. But even the name CHRISTMAS reminds us of Him.

Although we call it christmas our celebration with trees, big family dinners and gifts does indeed find it's real origin in ancient 'midwinter feasts'
Christianity has tried to adopt those so the 'celebration of the birth of jesuis christs' could easier be forced upon the natives.
Strange how now Christianity seems to think they have any claim on christmas

@PIANOSSO
Christmas, as we celebrate it, arose from the Roman feast day of Apollo, the Sun God. The date of celebration on Jesus' birth was moved from January to December to make it more appealling to the Roman people when Christianity was adopted as the official state religion of the Roman Empire.
Christmas itself is not the most important Christian festival, that honour goes to Easter. If one looks to historical documents, one would see that much more emphasis is placed on Easter.
As a non-Christian I don't celebrate the birth of Jesus, but I certainly won't pass up the opportunity to buy my friends some nice gifts and to have a jolly good time!

the giving of gifts is meant to be symbollic of the gifts given to the baby jesus by the three wise men (or three kings depending on which sunday school you subscribe to). it is also an expression of love and good will to your family and friends, since that is part of what christmas is about. the more you give, and the more people you give to, the bigger and more sincere an expression of generosity and universal good will you display.....
............at least in theory.
