I noticed several mp3 files copied to my p910 did not show artist/album info (even though my tags are fine). This makes sorting by album impossible.

As an experiment, I ripped a new cd with WMP10 and copied the mp3 files to the phone, and sure enough, only 2 of the 11 tracks had artist/album. The rest only had titles.

Anyone know what's up?

Ok, thought I'd let you know that WPM10 appears to write inconsistent tagging info.

I used iTunes to convert the WMP ripped CD files to "correct unicode" and also made another pass at the collection to convert all tags to "v2.4" and everything is fine now.

Now I'm doing the same for my entire ripped library; the hard drive is getting a workout.

Go Apple.

Well, you should rip your CD's using other programmes than, such as WinAmp or MusicMatch. You can also tag your MP3's easily by using MP3Tag.

Last update for the archives:

The built-in "Music player" appears to be confused when ID3 tags contain "Album Artist" information. When this field in WMP10 is filled in, the music player app won't display either the artist OR album info.

A shame, really. It's a necessary field in my Media Center Edition jukebox where all my music is stored; I can't remove the info without losing functionality. (The album cover view needs the info)

- And finally, converting the tags to v2.4 truncated some title lengths past 30 or so characters, so beware.

I'm done. Hope this helps others.
