i did not know thw r520m can open its flip. what happens in flip open mode? is the whole screen utilised? will it be touch screen? how do you use it in open flip mode? are there pictures of it in open flip mode? or am i confusing this for another phone?

i think you are confusing r520m for r380 as i had both and r520 100% didn't have a flip...
oh and r380, yes you can open the flip and then you can write notes and some drawings on the black and white touchscreen, nothing special, not a smartphone so no os, actually the best fun i had was with the drawings,

this is the worlds first smartphone. because this phone had alot of features and a touchscreen.
for some people a smartphone is a highly advanced phone with a touchscreen, in there eyes a nokia series 60 phone is just another phone.

well i would rather not argue about this as views about smartphone are very different but i would just like to point out that phones with an os have almost endless possibilites and r380 was in no way like that, it had a touchscreen and that was all, infact i didn't like it one bit, in my opinion r520 is a far more superior phone in terms of connectivity...

R520 is excellent. still have my copper baby.
battery is good for 4 to 5 days with heavy use, BT is stable, GPRS pretty good. a LOT of functions built in.
SMS input has quite a bit of lag but you get used to it. also, motion sensor for speakerphone and alarm is quite sensitive to dust. if it doesn't work properly, just take it to a service centre to have it cleaned and it'll be fine.
but really an excellent phone. never selling mine...

motion sensor does two things:
- when the alarm goes off, if you wave your hand over the phone, alram goes to snooze mode
- when in speakerphone mode, when you bring the phone close to your face, it senses the proximity of your face and switches the volume to normal mode
