Can the P910i be used to make DVD players region free? basically like how a palm pda can by downloading the relevant software and codes to enable the device to be used as a programable remote control hack!

here's a thought.........if you are talking about remote hacks, you could try using your DVD PLAYER REMOTE

@ VieloAiposh, that one was way too easy my friend, been there done that! my remote is'nt equipt with the right codes to do this on my Sony DAV-S 880 dvd player, i need to know if there is anyway of getting the correct codes installed on my P910i to unlock it as its not possible to do unless using the correct codes, i know it works with palm pda's so how about the p series as i dont own a palm pda.

everyone knows that sony's and all top brands liek that can not be unlocked by any REMOTE HACK
in order to make those brand players region free you need to get them chipped
my advice would be to go purchase a cheapo dvd player cos they almost always have a remote hack on the net somewhere
remote hacks work by just typing in a code on your dvd players remote
it has nothign to do wiht some special software needed or anythign like that
there is an infra red remote control software for px00 i believe, but it simply does the same job as your existing remote
for a sony dvd player, you will not find a remote hack that actually works, you need to get your player modified in order to play import dvd's
same goes for other leading brands like toshiba, panasonic and stuff like that
if you want a region free player, check out your local stores, see which brand and models they have of cheapo dvd players, then check the net for remote hacks
for example, i got my dvd player from tesco a couple of years back it was like £60 (whcih was very cheap back then) with a couple of movies included
it was some never-before-heard-of make called "dansai", and i unlocked it by pressing eject, setup, right right right right right right, 3 3 3 3
that is an example of a remote hack, it is just soemthign that can be done with your existing remote
so yeah, either look on the net for dvd mod shops, or get yourself a new player

@ VieloAiposh, thanks for your advice, i dont really want to have to chip my player yet as it is still under warranty. anyway i did afew searches on a couple of sites and found several people claiming to have purchased (special) hackable remotes for machines which are not by default able to be hacked via the players original remote. plus i also found that there apparently is a utility that will allow many palm pda's to hack into certain dvd players deemed (unhackable) to allow them to play discs from any region. this is what i was wondering, if such a utility exsisted for the P series phones (and no i'm not talking about the ir remote app for Pxxx) buying a cheap multi region dvd player is not an option for me. Sony Centre told me they have the kit to do it (without chipping) but why should i spend more money if i can eventually get it done for free somehow.
